Professor Daniel Muijs, Deputy Director, Research & Evaluation Ofsted. [Session 1] In this webinar, Daniel looks at how testing can be used as a strategy for learning. Daniel describes research on the testing effect, and why testing is key to embedding knowledge in long-term memory and retrieving it. Daniel looks at different strategies such as quizzes and self-testing, and discusses the other advantages of frequent testing. [Session 2] In this webinar, Daniel looks at instruction, one of the arsenals in any teacher’s toolkit. Drawing on evidence from teacher effectiveness research, Daniel explores the importance of time on task and clarity of instruction, and presents a number of approaches, such as teaching for mastery and the structuring of lessons and lesson sequences. Daniel also introduces some research on the importance of classroom routines. [Session 3] In this webinar, Daniel looks at how we can use testing as a strategy for learning.
