Thinking Therapeutically in Classrooms

This course will focus on two main elements, brain and trauma and challenging behaviour. It will provide participants with vocabulary to consider therapeutic issues around “challenging behaviour” and explore how trauma can impact learning in relation to the circumstances and needs of children with learning disabilities. Participants will be introduced to: • A working understanding of how trauma affects the brain and impacts learning • The Jungian model of the psyche • The concepts of transference and counter transference • The attachment theory and the significance of thinking about this in relation to students with learning disabilities • Participants will explore the signs and symptoms of trauma and how to work creatively with challenging behaviour in students.
Cost: £180 per delegate. Lunch, refreshments and course materials included in the cost - we provide a buffet lunch including vegetarian and gluten free options. As our food is prepared on site, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate any other dietary requirements.
