An Introduction to Down Syndrome

This programme offers an ‘Introduction to Down Syndrome’. It aims to develop an understanding of the strengths and challenges children with Down Syndrome may encounter in their learning by focusing on areas such as communication, medical needs and behaviour. The course is aimed at professionals supporting children in early years and primary settings. Through a facilitated approach and practical activities, participants will be encouraged to consider how they may implement new strategies into their own practice.

- To develop an awareness of Down Syndrome and some common misconceptions
- To understand the learning profile of children with Down Syndrome
- To provide practical ideas and strategies that can be used to support children and young people with Down Syndrome.
