Bullying, Self-Esteem and Young People
King Alfred's A Specialist Sports College
Date:Thursday 23 February 2012 Time:9.30am - 4.00pmCourse description
Bullying happens wherever there are people. This workshop will explore bullying as something that happens between individuals and as something which is also a group phenomenon. We’ll explore the dynamics that create bullying behaviour and strategies which make for more productive relationships between people.
Bullying is closely related to issues of self-esteem. The workshop will also, therefore, focus on what ‘self-esteem’ actually is and how young people develop it. What do we mean by a self? How does a self develop? How can a damaged self ever be repaired?
This workshop will be of particular interest to professionals working with young people in education and other settings.
