Newick House discusses their successes with BlueSky, the online PM & CPD tool
“Here at Newick House BlueSky has become an essential part of what we do,” says head teacher Gill Perry. “It offers us a great way to capture information such as how many people have chosen to set targets related to the school’s improvement plan and how we have arranged CPD. And it’s a good place to collect all the information on the whole school in one place.”
Tracking of training and development vital for ongoing success
“Our original paper performance management system was bitty and it was often very difficult to find and collate information,” says Perry. “Things got lost especially when people left and this led to mistakes. We started using BlueSky gradually and have been rolling out the system since then, and each year we do it better!”
What staff like about BlueSky
“It’s an equal system – all staff feel equally valued. It gives everyone an opportunity to reflect. People take their own and others’ development more seriously, and managers’ roles in developing their line staff are more evident. People like being able to review their performance against standards. Things don’t get lost – it’s all there and the head teacher can see who’s logged in and who is committed to their self development. And it gives us the credibility to show that we are doing everything properly.”
